I just have to share my excitement about Album DS! I have long dreaded the album creation because it just seemed so daunting and I never knew where to start. Templates are a great way to begin, but when there are many pages and images it just was too overwhelming. So I began to look into software and some of the more recommended ones did not work with Mac or were super pricey. I stumbled across Album DS and I have been an album making fool ever since. Also, they have AMAZING customer service.

Agreed! I've been hunting around for a new album designer for awhile and came across Album DS just recently. They are now at the top of my list for sure.

Has any one else used this? How does it compare with AutoAlbum by Kevin Kubota?

Chris, from what I understand they just brought it to the US this past October. It has been elsewhere before. I am LOVING how great it is to use. The cool thing is that you can try for free and not have it stamped with 'sample' or 'trial' all over your finished page. So, I say give it a try. I am only speaking from what I have found and so far it is great. The CS is so wonderful and I get all my questions answered.

I think I may bite on this. In looking at ID vs Album DS...Album DS clearly takes the cake, unless an ID user can say that ID has all the features DS has as well. All I know is...I am not spending 80 hours on another 140 page album ever again. This software decision has to be made extremely carefully for me, and I need to get the software thats going to save me the most time in production.

Thank you for the information. I am going to try it out and see how it does.

I watched a few tutorials, got great help from customer service and I made an album in no time!!! That was worth every single penny. The cool thing is that every template is so easy to change if you don't like something about it. I am just happy that I can make albums and not stress about how much time it will take me. I also liked how you can change the album to be a different size and it does all the changing for you. I would love to hear your thoughts if you choose to go that way;)

How does it compare to YSI? I did see the cheesy film strip on the front page and that makes me wonder about the templates. I'll have to really see some serious praise before I look at spending $450.

Dude...that was EXACTLY my first initial thought, but then watched the video and realized just how much time it will save. I love the "double click" and the image pops straight into where it's supposed to go, that in itself will save TONS of time. Even with my transform actions it still takes a few seconds to get it right. I also love the "grayed out" photos that have already been used.
Even designing from scratch (which is what I am partial too), is faster with this program. It all seems too good to be true....waiting for more feedback....and feedback from ID folks on what they think of DS.

You can import your own templates as well or change them really easily. I cannot speak for YSI but I must say that I am enjoying this a lot!

So...I just found out something super cool about Album DS...any of your current templates work BRILLIANTLY with it! Also, they just came out with some additional templates...I am finally having fun working on albums.

So, it's an action system that uses Photoshop as it's engine to build albums?

I currently use InDesign thanks to Swan's video...is there an easy way in InDesign to change the size of the album AFTER you've designed it? Like, say, for a smaller/different dimension parent album? Anyone know? Cause that is definitely a cool feature with DS...

I think? I guess since it opens PS when you open DS then it must be. I have just found it to be very simple.

I purchased it a couple of months ago and I am pretty satisfied with it. I have already created my own templates using theirs for 10x10, 12x12, 9.5x13, etc. Just open of the PSD files with Album DS and it takes about 45 minutes to create a 30 page album. Was hesitant on the $450 price tag, but after seeing the tutorials and such, I decided to invest. Not too bad!
