I just returned from shooting a destination wedding in OBX... just a note to those of you far away - the drive is quite hellish, plan on lots of stopping and several hours driving on backroads with 25mph speed limits too. Also plan a *lot* of travel cost, gas in NC is *ridiculous* and the're are few hotels in the OBX area - most of it is beach houses, so book your room EARLY or there's a chance there won't be any or that the rates will be outrageous.

The area is absolutely gorgeous though

Aww, I wasn't trying to hinder your quest, I promise I just noticed a lot of people posting from really far away and wanted to make sure they knew what they were in for (I really didn't, other than the hotel scarcity, and I had been there before). According to Google maps, Mapquest, even my GPS when I started out... it should have been an 11 hour drive. It took closer to 17 (without really stopping other than for quick bathroom/gas/food breaks) and driving well above the speed limit. So, I just wanted to make sure the far,far away people were aware of this before they quoted travel costs... This trip cost me a good $1000 or more and I was only there for two nights
