I'm a switching!! dancingbanana.gif . Going with a refurb iMac. I have 2 quick questions. First.... how much difference is there in the 20" 2.0 ghz and the 2.4. I know the 2.4 also has a better graphics card. The price diff is about $150. Also, I will be buying more third party Ram later.

Second, some peeps are liking the white imacs better than the current aluminum ones. Is there an issue with current generation that they are looking into? Both are available in refurbished at pretty darn good prices. Thanks in advance smile.gif

Wow, this is the easiest question of the day. Get the best you can afford at the time. Some will argue that you don't need to spend the money. My thought is MACs will last a long time because that is what they do. By getting the best you can now, the technology will last longer. If anything the silver ones are better for the environment.

Good for you switching. One of the best choices you will make.

I'm still using a mac that I got in 1999. It's pretty much just a server, now, but it works like a champ. I still have the one I got in 1994 (why I still have it, I have no idea). The one I got in '87 (used, mind you) is long gone.

They do last a long time, but with the processor change (again) it won't last as long as some. Although Apple did a great job with their 68K emulator in the PPC machines and the PPC emulator in the Intel machines seems to work well, too.

We JUST got a refurbished 24" iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme last week for $1899. Fortunately for you (and unfortunately for us) you can get the same one now for $1599. Go to http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebO...lm=CertifiedMac We then bought a 4G RAM upgrade from a company called Crucial for $99...and you can install it yourself wink.gif

Our iMac is awesome, and you can't beat the price for sure! Good luck...
