Flying home yesterday, I had my p&s out doing the same thing but when I switched it over to take a shot, an old lady reached over from across the aisle, grabbed my camera and threw it...!

No...not really. But she did smack me on the knee from across the aisle (smaller plane) and told me with fear in her eyes:

"you're not supposed to be doing that on takeoffs and landings"

"oh, I thought it was for cell phones and pagers"

"no! It's for anything that has a battery!"

"oh! Thank you maam."

ok so question I've been DYING to know, WHY can't we have our cameras, iPods, laptops etc on during takeoff and landing?

And DJ, I took photos during takeoff as well,
