I don't want to know how to do it... I seeking out to see if anyone has done it, and noticed a difference to which the details of the update are described in the link.

i know you didn't want to know HOW to do it, i was simply saying that canon provides information on the fixes contained in the update, which are listed in the pages where you download the update. i don't have a 5D so I can't tell you about my experience with this specific one, but I personally download and install every available update for my 1D series bodies in order to keep them up to date. I also trust canon 100% when it comes to these updates, so I don't really worry or need proof that they "work"

The 5D ver. 1.1.1 firmware update includes:
  1. It now supports high-capacity CF cards.
  2. It allows the latest lens names to be recorded in the Exif information of images taken.
  3. It adds lenses that are compatible with the Digital Photo Professional 3.2 lens aberration correction function.
I haven't updated the firmware yet as the above doesn't do anything for me. It wouldn't hurt anything either even if I updated it.

1. I don't use CF cards over 2gb.
2. Not important to me with lens names in Exif
3. I don't use DPP
