this is going to be my first mac and i can not wait!!! my pc is 6yrs old and i am thinking of the best way to DESTROY it. it takes me 5min to edit one photo that should take 1min. i have heard nothing but great things about macs. one ? i have is, lightroom or aperture. what do you guys recommend. what are the pros and cons for each?

I am sooooooooooooooo jealous... this is the EXACT boat I am in right now... I have a 6 year old peace of **** pc at home, and at school we have spankin new iMacs. It's TORTURE! I will have one at home hopefully sooner than later!

You are going to be in SHOCK. Not only does it work so amazingly, but the screens are sooo shockingly gorgeous~ the 24 inch seems huge, too!

Definitely go OfficeSpace on your old computer. Make sure to take some pics for us


As to Aperture vs. Lightroom--- although I am a hardcore Apple fangirl, and wanted to love Aperture, I prefer LR.

Aperture of course has a GORGEOUS layout and some people prefer how it runs to LR; it also has a book layout ability. The downside to Aperture is that you can't do global presets like you can in LR. In LR, there are "presets" that you can define-- you mouse over a list, see a thumbnail of what it would look like, click and set it to everything. I have presets I've downloaded as well as custom-made ones like General, SaturatedVignetted, and Dark Vintage...

I use the global presets too much, and they save me too much time, to switch to Aperture

See the movie Office Space then grab a couple of brides. That will give you an idea to destroying it and some fun photos. Congrats your gonna LOVE MAC!

Same here. We had five year old dells with a teeny tiny screen and upgraded to two 24in Imacs. I shed tears of joy when I edited our first wedding on them. I'm a total Mac convert now. I prefer lightroom

I love Lightroom! But I also know a diehard Aperture fan.

Either way, I have the same machine. You will just sing out loud while editing. Enjoy the new computer!
