Full Version: d70 error message

I have a D70 that I use as a backup camera- I noticed it was displaying an error message a few weeks ago but didn't really worry about and put it away until I was prepping for a wedding tonight.

It's displaying err and r12.

I tried googleing to see what this means but a lot of different things came up for it, and nothing about how to fix it. I just had the shutter replace about 6 months ago and have hardly used it since then.

I'm a little worried about not having my backup for tomorrow! Any ideas?

Are you using a lens that has an aperture ring. If so make sure the ring is in the lock setting. If it is turned it will cause it to read error.

I had my D70 backup go out on me at a wedding (when my main camera was having issues and I had to USE it, too)-- I'll have to check the error when I get home. It had been doing a weird double-shutter-sounding thing that made it not take a photo for a while, every now and then. That wedding it started doing it more and more, until it just stopped working ><

Try to find another Maryland OSPer who will let you borrow a backup for tomorrow?

Shelby,

Is it stuck on r12? Does it take pictures at all or is it out of commission?

Many of the D70 bodies had a faulty circuit board which were commonly referred to as the GLOT--green light of death--the green LED on the back kept flashing and the camera wouldn't take pictures. I don't know if the r12 code has anything to do with that, but I know many people sent their D70 in to Nikon for free repair (including me).
