Full Version: Dumpster diving for camera gear?

My dad, who is retired, has been working part time at a department store for some spending money and he mentioned to me that the store was throwing away all kinds of fixtures that they didn't want anymore. He showed me to expanding poles that he planned to use in his truck bed. I thought that they would work great to be converted into bicycle storage racks (just add two arms to hold the bike to the pole) or even as a backdrop holder (just add a bar across between the two).

So I drive over to the store and after about two minutes I find myself two boxes of Bogen Super Clamps that they had been using to hold clothing racks of all things. I think I have about 30 of them. Checking the old Ebay it looks like I can get 10-15 dollar a piece for them.

What a find!

Awesome find! I love free stuff...especially when other's think it's junk! One man's junk is another's treasure!

That's exactly how I got my 2 Bogen Autopoles with 4 Super clamps.

LOL I had never heard of the autopole but sure enough that is the extending pole I was talking about. I was able to get three of them and I know my dad has four of them as well.
