Hi guys:
I know a lot of you use wordpress, but I'm still using blog spot.
I tried to widen the margins on my blog and my blog header...but the header won't seem to go as wide as the body.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Also, does anyone know how to make the images larger?
That's about all I need to take on right now, so any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jen

hey, jen! i just did some work on my blogger blog with my husband. you can check it out at
www.lindseymart.blogspot.com. if this is kind of what you are loking for, i can give you some tips i know from watching him.
a couple of questions ...
do you use a jpg image created in photoshop for your header? if so, do you insert it in the html or do you use the layout page?
do you still use your sidebar? if that is deleted in the html, then it helps to make the images a lot bigger. if you still use it, then i would just recommend sizing your images in photoshop to be as wide (or almost as wide) as your body so that you can use html code in your post.
does any of that make sense?
hope it helps,
lindsey

Hi Lindsey....yes, exactly, your blog looks great!
I used the layout button for my header but then I tried to widen it in the html code. I'm really bad with html.
I do use the side bar, mostly for vendor links, as I don't have a links page on my website.
So...if I size the images to the same size as the body, and upload them as "large" images, this should work?

thanks! it took a little while to finish, but i really like how it turned out.
i am really bad with html, too, so i feel your pain. for my pics, i usually just upload them to my ftp and then use html when posting. that way i can size them however i want without having to upload them to blogger. this is the code i use:
<center>
<img src="http://www.lindseymart.com/blog/blogpicturexx.jpg" width=498px height=750px>
</center>
you have to look in the html to see how wide your body is in order to know how many pixels your picture needs to be on its longest side.
let me know if you need anything else!
eta: i do the same thing with my header, too. it goes onto the ftp and then i use code in the html to place it at the top.

I use photobucket and then upload to blogger. I don't have an ftp.
Oh...I hate computer stuff. I have so much to learn!!
Thanks Lindsey. I'm going to try to mess with it now.

Does anyone know how to make the images larger when uploading to blogger? I don't have an ftp so adding the html code for each picture isn't an option for me.
This is the code I see when looking at the html:
="" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_f-9EG1hR0Rs/SAS8FPxp1CI/AAAAAAAAAEM/AZiIirlk4jw/s400/DPP_49124a.jpg" border="0" /></a>

Yay...I figured out how to do it with photobucket! I still can't do it with my own computer hosting the images, but I'm happy to have achieved what I set out to do today.
Thanks for the help.

Yay I'm glad you figured it out.

With photobucket I have to pay for the subscription to get my images larger (I make mine like 800 px wide). The regular one only lets you upload I think up to 600 px wide. Not sure how big you wanted to go though.

Thanks Alyssa. I made them 600px...and it worked. I think the images themselves show much more quality at this size. Thanks so much.
