What is the best way to set up your slideshow photos? Do you do ful res files, or should they be sized down for optimal quality for the DVDs and if so, what should the photos be sized to?

Thanks!

Jen, I thought that it resizes for you. I just use hi-res images and get no problems.

JenStewartPhotography
It does resize, but 1) it takes so long, and 2) since we've been using our full res photos and allowing showit to resize for us, the slideshows seem to be much slower loading.

We never received complaints for the load time in the past, ever since allowing showit to size, we've received a handful of complaints.

Just trying to find the balance thumbsup.gif

Hi Jen,

I resize to 1200x800 since thats what ShowIt resizes to for the DVD. This lets me sharpen the images at the size at which they'll be viewed which makes them look much better IMHO. I run a batch sharpen action that also saves the images for web, and this makes for fast loading good looking slideshows.

Hope this helps!

thanks Shawn, I appreciate it! That's EXACTLY what I was looking for. You rock

just to clarify, what do you have the resolution set to for the photos when you resize them?

Hi Jen,

I export the photos I'm going to use from Lightroom at max dimensions 1200 wide x800 tall. I then take that folder and batch sharpen it through Photoshop. I then import the photos into ShowIt.

Hope this helps.

oh that makes it easier hu smile.gif

please forgive how slow I am today, I was up all night with a sick baby.

So when you export from lightroom, what resolution do you use? I know you said 1200x 800 pixels, but then how many pixels per inch?
Shawn Reeder
I do 72 ppi.
JenStewartPhotography
ok, that's what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure, and didn't want my over tired brain to make an unnecessary error.

Thanks Shawn!
