Full Version: I wrote a Photography Book!

I'm running a photography course I have developed on "Capturing the Light" for amatures who want to take their photography to the next level.

I had the desire to write a book/visual manual that provided the students with a great foundation, basically covering all I am going to cover in the course.

I just finished the book today. I'm really excited about it. It will be printed by Viovio as an 8.5inch square full colour book available as both Soft Cover and Hard Cover.

I'm thinking about getting it published.

I'll post a link to it once it's up, I'm just getting it proofed and then I'll be sending it to print!

Hmm, I noticed you has 39 views of your post, and yet nobody said a word!

Well, I just want to say a big "Well Done" to you, give yourself a pat on the back. I had actually made a post about some studio management software about a half hour before you posted - looks like we were both reaching the end of a labor of love.

I worked on my project for over 3 months, long hours and late nights, and getting it all finished is a BIG relief.

You should be very proud of yourself!!! Good luck with the marketing, and please let me know when you send out the link, I would love to take a look.

AGAIN, WELL DONE!

Hugh

Thanks heaps! I'm looking forward to getting it printed! I'm going to start with having it for sale through Viovio, then may look into publishing!

By the way I downloaded the demo of your program! Great work, looks like you worked long and hard on this. Really impressed. I like it a lot.
Is there a way to link in other mac programs to it, ie - sync your mail, ical and address book?

biggrin.gif Hey K...can't wait to do your "Capturing the Light" course! I just know it will shed new "light" on my photography skills. In particular, I am looking forward to learning from YOU! Love your work always.... By the way, even though I only got to see the mock-up version of your book (and in the dark... ph34r.gif ) I think it looks splendid! Can't wait to get my own copy! clap.gif

Hey guys, the books are being shipped. Should arrive next week. Just thought you might like to look at the book. I have it up at Viovio and it can even be purchased. You can view a low res PDF interior of the book from here:

http://www.viovio.com/shop/21650

PS: If you buy it, please purchase either a hard or soft cover 8.5 x 8.5 as it has been optimised for that. The 12 x 12 isn't photo cover wrap, so not the best.

In the book there is a mention of the Canon 5D Mark II on page 24. Do you have any more details about this camera?

Ah smile.gif Only what I have read online, it's speculation at the moment. I know it will come out (not sure it will definately be called this) but I also know it will have Live View for sure, but that's the best I know. I'm sure we are all hanging out for this camera!!

Hi,

I just wanted to apologize - you asked me a question in the forum, I didn't have my email notifications turned on, and I missed it! Sorry.

Yes, I am working on tying DataSafe into ical right now. Actually, since you downloaded the demo, there have been many improvements and additions. The site, and demo, have been updated.

I hope that the book is going well.

Best wishes,

Hugh
