We won't be living there until mid-July, but my husband and I are going to visit May 2-5 to look for a place to live. He'll be teaching at U Mass Lowell, which is why we're moving. If you're in the area I'd love to meet you May 4th for brunch, let me know if you're interested! If you can't make it, I'd still love to see who from OSP is in the area, so please say HI!!!!
JenD
Woo hoo! Congrats to you and the hubby!

Well, in my opinion, yes, but Ive never been to Indiana lol

But Boston is on the ocean and Indiana is somewhere in the middle with a bunch of farmland; not that New England beaches are all that nice (they aren't) but it's nice to be by the ocean. Boston is one of our nation's oldest cities and has a ton of universities, so it has a lot of charm and energy to it.
KaylaS
Congrats Anne! I remember when you were moving to Indy. You'll love Boston.

Ahhhhh...to be young again & childless smile.gif.
turtle nate
Well, at least the Colts beat up on the Patriots the last time they played in the playoffs cuz we are losing one this one sad.gif
Phil P
face it nate, Boston is way better than Indy, in all regards!! lol

At least the Sox are reigning champs, that helps me sleep better at night. smile.gif

Anne!! I am so excited for you!! A new adventure is at hand... I love adventures! Boston is such a fun place and you will totally rock them!! Can't wait to come visit!! thumbsup.gif

Yeah, I've moved an average of every two years since I was born. I can't really imagine living in one place for more than 5 years!!! Pretty crazy, huh? People are the same everywhere, they all just want to be loved. smile.gif

If you just substitute "wicked" for "really" you'll be in with the locals. Honestly, I've never heard anyone say "wicked pissah" in my life, though it's supposedly the signature regional expression.

Too expensive lol

My house here is $150k, so I'd definitely still be renting if I lived in MA. I actually don't like living in the midwest all that much, I miss home, but my quality of life here is definitely better at this point. I'd move back home if I got a great job in my current career, or if I started booking weddings left and right back home.

Anne,

I'll miss you! smile.gif

But, I'll probably see you next year at NEIPP!

I know of a few ways you can be childless pretty quickly... KIDDING!!!!It must not be that hard to do with kids, since my brother and I moved around for most of our childhood with my single mom. I did ask her to let me go to one high school for all four years, but everything else was kind of a blur. So, yeah... this will be the second time I've moved my business in just three years. It's not as hard as it might seem. You just go, and figure it out once you get there. ;-)

We're looking to live in Lowell, near the University for my husband. The cost of living there isn't too shabby.... although I doubt you'd get a great home for $150k... but even when I lived in Michigan, it was hard to get a great home for that. Now that I've lived in a few places that are a "little out of the way"... I kinda like it. Especially when there's a great university community to be involved in.

Awesome... you'll be able to get better clam chowder & corn bread than you could in Indy. Which, in my book, is worth the move in itself. smile.gif

i used to live in the Boston area and loved it there.

we'll definitely have to GTG when you're up in Boston--it's a lot closer than Indiana.

have a great week!

Congratulations!! I've lived a lot of places too. But I moved from MA to IN a while ago. (You asked why "we" USED to live there? Like others, cost of living. And, um, here in Indiana....I have a free house. A beautiful old house. So it made sense in order to do what I want to do. The plan was NEVER to stay here. It's been fun being a Patriots fan here though. HA!)

I'm with Phil on his comparison of IN and MA.
I LOVED Massachusetts. It's got all the culture and history and sports (and shopping!) and everything you could possibly want in a city, but each area has a "neighborhood" feel.

And you've got to go to the Cape and visit Mahoney's in Orleans, all the art galleries in P'town, and the 'Coma in Wellfleet.
;-)

When I'm ready to move again, Boston will most definitely be up for serious consideration. (I've got to get back near an ocean. Seriously. I have to visit the ocean regularly even now!)

Congratulations again and please keep us posted as you discover everything wonderful about MA!
All the best!

Hey Anne, Congrats on the move. I'm up in Maine but we go down to Boston al the time...only about 1-2 hours away from us. It's a great place to visit so I'm sure it would be fun to live there.

we're officially trading places! so sad that I've only just now met you. the midwest will certainly miss you, but you'll take boston by storm. some of the venues out there are fanTAStic.

I mean look at this:

Wow - a free house is an amazing deal! I'd jump on that too - especially because the cost of living is lower here!Mmmm... I love smaller neighborhoods... that's one of the things I absolutely love about Washington, DC... all the cool little neighborhoods with their own vibes and themes!!!! Looooooooove it!!!!Thanks for the suggestions on where to visit!! I'm so ridiculously excited about exploring the area and discovering all of these cool little things!!!
