Hi everyone,

I took some photos in JPEG (I know, I know-- BIG mistake... I always shoot in RAW and my card was filling up so to save space I switched to JPEG real quick, and forgot to switch back over) that came out REALLY yellow. Just awful. wacko.gif I've tried correcting with PS and made major improvements but could still be better.
I'd like to know if anyone knows of some killer software, plug-in's, etc. that corrects white balance...???

Thanks in advance!

Here's what I do. wink.gif

Find a part of the image that should be white..

In Photoshop, go to the Curves adjustment, and click on the white dropper in the lower right corner.. and then sample the white area (or what should be white) and see if that gets you close.

There's also a Black and a middle grey dropper that will help sometimes..

Give that a shot.. I'm heading oout for a wedding so I gotta run. wink.gif

Hi Greg! Thanks for advice.. I had tried that with Levels instead and while it did help, I'm starting to think these photos are beyond repair sad.gif They're just sooo yellow.

Good luck on your wedding!!

I saw a program about a week ago that has these little lines with circles at the end. Wherever the circle is, you can adjust the hue, white balance, tones, & so forth just on that circle and surrounding similar areas. You can 'post' as many circles as you want in a photograph and adjust each differently without effecting the areas around that you don't want changed. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the software. Does this sound familiar to anyone??

adobe bridge CS3 allows you to edit jpegs in the same fashion as RAWs. just remember that jpegs have a lot less information in them than RAWs so extreme adjustments will not provide results as nice as RAWs will. that being said, open your JPEGs in Camera Raw (in CS3) and adjust the white balance....

Wow, I did not know that! Okay, I have bridge CS3 but I don't know how to 'edit' with it?? does that make sense? I have the pic I want to fix up on bridge, Can you guide me through to how to adjust please? I can't seem to find it...

Edit to say: OMG!! I found it, I found it!! Trevor, THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how happy you've made me!! I thank you sooo much! Man, modern technology ROCKS! & OSP of course, lol wink.gif

Auto color in Picasa is actually pretty good. Picasa is free to download, so you might want to give that a try.

Theres tons of different ways to get your whites balance, the good ones have already been mentioned but i just wanted to pipe one more in if i could! smile.gif

Its not one that you would use for tons of photos, but for touching up photos for an album design for example, when you can go through each photo with a very fine toothed comb, I am slowly finding that the White Neutralizer in Color Efex 3.0 is amazing! Its so easy and totally customizable... and I find that for getting global whites balanced its fantastic too!

just my 2cents!

Thanks Steph & Michael! I appreciate all the advice! smile.gif

glad i could help. hit me up if you have any other questions, i love the challenge.

in case anyone else is wondering how she found it, you can right click on any image or group of selected images in bridge and say "edit in camera raw" (maybe it's open in camera raw - i can't remember - i use lightroom) and you can edit JPEGs, TIFFs, PSDs and RAWs in the camera raw plugin. yay for adobe!

Have you tried Lightroom? I had this issue on one of my first weddings and it totally helped adjusting it in LR even with jpegs.
