I think that Capture NX and Camera Control Pro should have been available to Nikon owners at no charge or at least a very nominal charge.
I purchased camera control pro last April for about $80. The version I bought is not compatible with OS X, so I can not install it on my new Mac, now that my pc lappy has died. OK. I can live with that. But, hey! they made a new version that Does work with OS X! But they want another $70 to upgrade! And that upgrade provides no new functionality for my equipment.
And if you want the program from scratch...that will be $180 please. Are they NUTS!
There are some 3rd party apps that could work for as little as $15.
My total investment in Nikon branded products ( I do have some Sigma stuff too) is well over $7K. I know that is a drop in the bucket to folks who have a couple of D3s and some nice glass. That would easily put you at $15k. But they get you for a program to use their equipment?
Does Canon do that? Fuji?Anyone?

My D300 came with Capture NX.. I am assuming it is the full version. I haven't used it a whole lot since I just got the camera and just installed the program.

Why use NX? Use ACR or Lightroom.

Just as an update, I reviewed the screen printout of when I purchased Camera Control Pro, and it clearly states functional with OS X 10.391 and greater. Yet, it does NOT work with 10.5 (leopard, what comes on current macs) and Nikon will not provide the version that does...camera control pro 2, without paying for an upgrade when the original product was supposed to work!
