Can you guys break down the term Juxtaposition for me...................
Jillian Kay

putting two things together that don't seem to belong together, especially to show contrast. may be used to stimulate thought.

dictionarily-speaking: it just means placing two items side-by-side.

photographically-speaking: I think of two contrasting subjects composed in the same image. Think funky rockstar boots on an elegant bride. Or a newborn baby in a junky alley. Pearls with torn blue jeans.

there's actually a photographer on OSP that named her studio Juxtapose Photography. Maybe she'll chime in with her view.

So if I take a portrait with two gay guys getting married will that be a Juxtaposition.................. lol kidding

Thanks guys..................................
What will I do without you
Juxtapose
The definition I use is from Webster's. It says that juxtapose means to place, side by side, unexpected combinations of colors, shapes, and ideas.

I think some people want to really shrink down this definition to make it more specific, but I prefer the broader sense of the word. I like to even apply it to my personality traits which are quite juxtaposed! (For instance, I am very into fashion and things that sparkle, but I also love sports and have a stereotypically masculine approach to business.)
