I have been thinking or going with them for a while. I am not having ANY issues with my current hosting company (website or server issues), so I need a real good "tingly" feeling about switching over to Pickpic, at least the picture ordering part AND another hosting company.
I have heard an incredible amount of good things about Pickpic and that is wonderful. But I want to know of any issues that I need to ask about or watch for. I certainly do NOT want to get involved and it really turns into a "Pictage-type" debacle.
This is not meant to bash any company. I simple want to hear about ANY issues you have come up against, if and how it was resolved, etc. It is a LOT of money for a cart system and I want to be "MAN-LY" secure

since I am not having any problems now. I just want to get away from all the God-forsaken fees I am being hit with.

Issues have been minor. Things like when I changed countries I'll sell to, shipping charges got messed up. The bug was fixed before I had a chance to tell them about it.
Other issues ended up being user error. There are a lot of preferences and it's hard to remember all of them sometimes. Even so, I got a reply right away showing me (with a screenshot) exactly what I needed to do. And it wasn't a biggie. I was getting two e-mails letting me know when the gallery was about to expire. Customers were just getting one. Once I changed the preference, all was fine.
There are features I wish it had, but I knew it didn't have those to begin with.

I just got a pickpic cart last month. I totally love it.
Even though the software is a one time fee, possible cost increases are acquiring the right hosting company and obtaining a merchant service account. Both are still very reasonable.
I am paying $10 a month hosting, $25 a year for SSL certificate and I forget how much the merchant account.
The customer service is really amazing. I had a couple of bumps getting it setup and they were really on top of it fixing all the issues. I have never heard anyone complain about their pickpic cart.

Darrell,
PickPic is better than you've heard or could imagine.
PickPic is extremely flexible and robust.
after being on PP3 for the past year, i still haven't used all of the features and functionality that's available in it.
the only difficult part of the process can be the length of time before work begins on your gallery (although i hear that the current wait time isn't too bad).
after 4 years, Troy continues to amaze me with the high level of support that he's provided me.

Something to look into is getting a separate domain name for your PickPic cart instead of migrating over your whole website. I don't claim to be an expert on PickPic but I know that they recommend WestHost (we host there as well) and a GoDaddy Turbo SSL certificate.
I'd ballpark the total yearly cost of WestHost ($130), GoDaddy SSL certificate ($15-30), and domain name ($10) would be around $175 max.
Good luck!

Spot on. I maintain a different domain for my PickPic, and those fees sound about right for what I pay yearly.
As far as issues, I've had my cart for 3 years and I can't give you one example of a problem I've had. There have been things *I* have not understood and Troy addressed them immediatley.
Yes, it's an investment. Last year I did 12k in sales from my cart. Do the math...how much would I have paid Pictage for their shoddy service and spamming my clients?

I was with Collages last year and gave them almost what I ultimately bought PickPic for outright. No brainer to switch.
The thing I miss the most so far is seeing the e-mail addresses of people who log into the galleries (the way Collages does). I like to know who is viewing and how often. I never used gallery viewers' e-mail addresses for spam because I don't believe in that.
PickPic does show you how many viewers have seen the gallery and how many page views, but doesn't show who visited.
Darrell, you won't have Pictage-type problems because PickPic is simply for hosting and ordering.... you do the fulfilling. Until the true power of the WHCC-PickPic partnership is fully realized, that is. But even then, I'd be shocked if WHCC makes the kind of mistakes that I have read about Pictage.

We just invested in Pickpic a couple months ago and are super happy so far. We fulfill our print orders with Miller's (who we love too). We were with Pictage, not really ordering any of their products and were getting slammed with high costs for prints etc... That would've even been bearable if they had good customer service. It doesn't take too long to fulfull orders with the Millers ROES, and the control panel on PickPic's back end is super intuitive.

Agreed... though I'd love the chance to let people who visit know when the gallery is about to expire, since that would likely lead to an increase of orders. A faint rumor has it that they're working on this, so I'm hopeful that a minor upgrade will be released. We'll see.
Don't you think it's worth noting that you (or at least, I) have *never* heard anyone who's gone with PickPic say that they wish they hadn't?

I agree.
I talked with them a while back, but just never followed through. I figured if there were any "issues" it would have been discussed on this forum LONG ago, and oh so often.
I am not sure what to think of a company that everyone likes...

. I guess I have been too jaded with hearing of really sloppy service and other issues.

i've got nothing but love for my pickpic cart! As others have said - you'll have to secure the hosting/domain, which can be a little tricky for web-idiots like myself, but Troy was totally helpful. Heck, he practically did it for me.
The cart is beautiful - integrates seamlessly with my website, and is very intuitive for my clients to use.

Troy and Rebecca utterly, totally, and completely rock.
PickPic is off-the-charts awesome, and the customer service is amazing. This is truly one of those "no, really, you can't go wrong" kind of purchases.
