Right now I only have the Nikon 50 1.4 and 105 2.8 macro. I am wondering which lens to get next for my lineup. Maybe the 17-55 2.8?

I have the same lenses as Trevor. My favorite is a toss between the 50 and 70-200

I just got the 50 1.2 this week, but so far it is my favorite. I have been renting it for the past month and just couldn't part with it. I used to have the 1.8 which was a nice lens, but after trying the 1.2 it's hard to go back.

i shoot nikon. i have 50 1.4, 17-55 2.8, and 70-200 2.8. the 17-55 is my fav.

I have exactly what Trevor has, except the 15mm Fisheye (man would I love that lens--I love WIDE angle!)

My most favorite in the following order:

28 1.8, 85 1.8, and soon a 50 1.4 (replacing broken 50 1.8). the 28 is probably my favorite and i'd probably like it more on full frame

now, if only i had enough cash for 2 5d's lol

I think it's safe to say there is no bigger 'staple' in the industry of people photography than the 70-200mm IS/VR. Every news photographer has one, and the vast majority of full time wedding and portrait photographers use them extensively.

It's not my favorite lens, but I won't be parting with it anytime soon, and if it broke tomorrow, I'd get another one, tomorrow. The only other lens I can say that about is the 50 and I have 2 of those. ;-)

(oh yeah, I do own a lens baby too...)

The 50 1.2 is my favorite followed closely in 2nd by the 135 2.0. I hardly ever use the 28-135 (my oldest Canon ED lens), the 50 1.4 or the 85 1.8 -- so I let (make) my wife use those lenses. The 70-200 is a workhorse...but it doesn't get used as much now that I have the 135 2.0. The 70-200 is best for sports / outdoor shooting compared to the 135 2.0, which is less intimidating in more confined settings where I still need to get up close in available light.

The 15 2.8 and the 17-40 4.0 are used sparingly for very specific wide-angle purposes. I like the 17-40 on the 5D (converging verticals are linear) and the 15 on the 20D and 40D (not too much of a fish look on the 1.6X sensor).

The only lens I think I really want to add in the next 12 - 24 months is the 24 1.4 L. I've been tempted by the 16-35 but have always blown that off...especially after I got my 5D a couple of years ago...

I would say the 24-70 is my most used lens, but the 70-200 comes up pretty close to that...

I hope to get the 17-40 f/4, 135 f/2 and 50 f/1.4 soon, along with a 5D. I think a MarkIIn + 5D combo would work our really well for weddings.

As I was with Nikon some years ago, I loved my 105 Macro (old model, non-VR). Best lens I ever had!!! Second best was the Nikon 1,8/85.

I had a lensbaby a couple years ago that I hated and returned. I had a Tamron that I hated and gave to my assistant.

I am very happy with my lens lineup and haven't bought any new ones in quite some time. If I were going to add another it would probably be the 85 1.2.

I just got the 35L and I love it, but I am wishing a bit that I had gotten the 24L instead. They're so close in length, but really so different. I keep thinking maybe I should sell the 17-40L and the macro and I'd have just about enough for the 24L.

Absolute fav is my 35L f/1.4 Hands down.

I just picked up the 50 1.4 so I don't know how I like it yet. Up until now 99% of my shots have come from the 24-70 unless I had a rented 70-200 IS, but I expect the 50 1.4 will start picking up a good share of the workload. The 70-300 just doesn't work very well unless you have the brightness of the sun. Then it works great.

Yay for other crazy people like me who don't got no zooms! I'm all Prime! (I started to make a bad prime minister joke, but decided against it.)
