I'm trying to run a slide show on my Mac and I have the screen saver to come on "never" but the screen dimmer still comes on. Can that be turned off?

It's in system pref under "display preferences", there's a little checkbox at the bottom.

that didn't seem to work...the screen still dims after a few minutes of no use.

any other suggestions?

Plug it in? It should work with Sara's advice, but maybe not.

this is a desktop or a laptop? I've never heard of a desktop dimming the screen....

if we're talking about a laptop, go into system prefs, select energy saver, then do this:
