i am trying to update my pricelists for the website.... i want to create a pdf to ftp to my website. what is the best way to do this? I am creating the pricelist in photoshop and then going to save it as a pdf.... what setting should I use in that dialog box - i.e. high quality, smallest file, press print etc... I am clueless here. also, what size should my document be??? right now it is an 8x10.

please help!!

you can print any document to PDF in mac OS X. i'd really suggest designing your pricelists in InDesign or something like that, they'll come out looking much beter, they'll be easy to edit, and you can export directly to PDF.

good luck!

I use www.pdfonline.com and it converts for me. Just save as a jpg or tiff and it works great. Make it 8.5 x 11 so it fits a standard letter sized sheet.

yes there are many things I would like to design in InDesign... but I don't have it and can't afford it right now. so I HAVE to use CS3.... and want to make the pricelists as nice as I possibly can via this route. any specific suggestions for settings etc???

I used Pages to make my pdf's that look awesome. Pages is cheap and an incredible tool for Mac if that's what platform you use.

yeah, another vote for pages. while it's quite different than indesign, it's very powerful and of course super to easy to use just like everything else on the mac :-)

I actually just use Microsoft Word. Import your logo, use your brand colors make it simple and clean. Works good for me! Then print as a .pdf document.

Hi Chelsea,

I emailed you my pdf that I made in Pages. Hope you find it helpful!

for PDF export, just go to print, pretend like you're going to print the document on your inkjet printer, then instead of actually printing, go all the way down to the bottom of the print dialigue box and hit the "PDF" pull down button and say "save as PDF"

no settings needed. you'll have a beautiful looking PDF in no time!

Hi

I just wanted to ask, why do you want to use the .pdf format? Are you making this a downloadable file?

I don't use pdf's on our site because of the time it takes to load the page. As a file for download, then maybe. But as a file for viewing, then much better to make it an html file.

If you need any help with this, creation or upload, let me know. I am happy to do it for you.

Hugh
