Full Version: Lightroom doesn't import

I know it's early for a lightroom question, but I'm stuck here. I'm trying to import images from our last wedding...around 2,000 total raw+jpg. Lightroom doesn't want to import them for some reason. They files are in the folder, but when I select them and choose "open" nothing happens. When I click "choose selected" it waits a second and then says "no files were found to import." I'm using the latest version of LR.

Any thoughts?

are you importing files from their current location on a hard drive or directly from a card?

i know on a mac at least, you can just drag the folder right onto the lightroom icon, the dialogue for import comes up and you click "import"

or of course you can do file ---> import

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the reply. I'm importing from my hard drive. I have noticed that Lightroom will import part of the images, but not all of them. Could it be a quantity issue? I've never had this problem before, but I've never tried importing this many photos.

I really don't suggest importing off of a card. Copy the files directly to your hard drive, inside a folder named with the client's name, date code or something like that. Then, drag that entire folder into lightroom and it will come up saying "import photos from their current location" - set any other things you want for the import, and that should do it for you.

best of luck!

Location has nothing to do with it, when it says choose selected it wants a folder of the images, not the individual files all selected. Regular open can select a couple of files.

Go up one level, click the folder, then choose selected. Don't double click the folder, just single click. See if that gets ya.

You mentioned that you're using the latest version of LR. I just read on LighroomNews ( http://lightroom-news.com/2008/03/16/adobe...-camera-raw-44/ ) that the latest version of LR was removed from use on adobe and they were advising people to return to the previous version of LR. So depending on which version of LR you're using...this could be your problem. Good luck!

Well I guess I'm not using the latest version. Or maybe I am. I have 1.3.1 Thanks for the tip!

Glad to hear it! It helps to think ridiculously sometimes. Then it works. biggrin.gif
