Come join TriCoast and Suzy Roberts for this VERY HANDS ON AND INTENSE workshop which is limited to only 20 students, which will allow a more realistic and relaxed learning environment for everyone involved.

MAY 16-18, 2008

A Three day HANDS-ON workshop with:

Kodak's World Wide Photographers to Watch for 2008 - TriCoast Photography
and
Suzy Makes It Hot

Day #1:

Starting the day off learning the detailed aspects of your Canon and Nikon flash units (models included: 420ex, 430ex, 550ex, 580exI, 580exII, wireless transmitters - SB 600, SB 800)

* eTTL and iTTL settings
* Ratios
* Manual Mode
* Zoom
* Custom Functions
* Positives and Negatives of the IR system of Canon and Nikon

After learning the basic of your flash unit, the basic concept of using wireless flash units outside in all lighting situations, the entire class will be broken up into smaller groups to advance the students learning curve. Using LIVE MODELS the students will both photograph using wireless flash as well as light the images for other photographers in their small group.

Being "tested" in many aspects of lighting from mid-day sunlight to golden hour lighting, the student will learn how to capture images in ANY form of light at any time of the day, giving the student the freedom to set their own time for shooting in their own business.

After a full day of shooting, the class will break up and go to dinner on their own and regroup when the sun goes down to learn video lighting techniques

* Types of video lights (expensive to inexpensive lighting aspects)
* Inexpensive light modifiers for video lights
* Positives and Negatives of using a video light
* How TriCoast uses video lights in our business

Breaking into the small groups once again the students will photograph the models using video lights of all sizes and shapes from inside and outside situations.

Day #1 ends late in the evening.

DAY #2 - Starts approximately 9am

Starting the day in the classroom going over Pocket Wizards and the positives and negatives of this method of wireless flash photography.
  • Channels
  • Camera Attachements to different flash units
  • Shutter Speed Limits
  • Advantages and Disadvantages
Then going outside and using the Pocket Wizards in your photography in smaller groups

Breaking for Lunch

Coming back to "outside classroom" and learning the Radio Popper Method
  • Layout of Product
  • Advantages and Disadvantages
  • How the product works, etc.
Then heading outside to photograph using the Radio Popper Units on your flash units blending both methods together.

Day #2 ends around 3-5pm

DAY #3 - Classroom and PhotoShop Tips and Tricks - Starting at approximately 9am

Starting the day off with snacks and other goodies and having a laptop will assist the student in following along with both TriCoast and Suzy Makes It Hot in showing all aspects of their PhotoShop tips and tricks.
  • Layer Masks
  • KeyBoard Shortcuts
  • Liquify - Suzy Makes It Hot is AMAZING
  • The Ins and Out of Bridge (ACR) and Lightroom
  • Presets and Subsets
  • Actions
  • Blends

Breaking for lunch somewhere in between, this day is always different depending on the needs, wants and questions of each student.

Ending the day with a few surprises and inspirational aspects of this amazing art form, the goal of this workshop is to send you home with NEEDED ITEMS which will help you directly in your photography business and in your life.

I know its not great for many wedding photographers but it was the only time we could get into the studio with everyone able to show up!

Its going to be full of at least 3-4 instructors with one of the best Photoshop guests showing up as a surprise on top of Jordan from TriCoast and Suzy from Suzy Makes it Hot.

Truly this will be an amazing set of people to teach you for 3 days of very hands on - learning workshop.

Mike...you give that little sister of mine a great big hug from me and Troy!!!! (sorry to threadjack!)

I will be staying (we all will be) at Connie's house most likely and I am not sure how long we are going to be town just yet since I have not made flight arrangements. (heck I just made the Chicago ones for the 9th of April) biggrin.gif

But we should be in town for a while, going to be a great workshop with lots of fun people involved thats for sure!!!

hey Mike. Looks fantastic bud! Any idea of dates for these two locations? I'm more interested in the Vancouver date, since that is a much shorter plane ride, haha.
Talk to you soon dude.

No Chirs...Toronto, man. I'm a family woman. I can't go to Vancouver. Since you're willing to take a plane anyway.... thumbsup.gif

I'm thinking that they are doing 2 workshops. 1 in TO, and another in Van. I'm definitely up for one in Van. smile.gif flights to TO are just too pricey, unfortunately.
joel.llacar
Mike, I would love to attend!! Any chance you will host a workshop in the near future, here in BEAUTIFUL Southern California???

Joel
Mike Fulton (TriCoast)
Yep 2 workshops in Canada - one on each coast line, then most likely speaking at the National Canadian Convention in May of 2009 in Central Canada to round it out smile.gif

And Joel we JUST HAD A SAN DIEGO WORKSHOP in a WONDERFUL studio right by Little Italy. HOWEVER with that said I am sure if we can round up enough people we would come back in a HEART BEAT to that location!

Our host is amazing and well the food, the food was GREAT!!!
Chris Uglanica
Mike,

"central canada" in may 2009? Whereabouts are you thinking of for that one? given the cost of your workshops, I would most likely swing both the Vancouver one, and then this may 2009 one if it was in Alberta. Although we'd be considered western Canada. smile.gif
Mike Fulton (TriCoast)
I am trying to keep the workshop cost LOW so everyone can afford to go!

I feel many workshops are WAY OVER PRICED and simply are well STUPID for what you get in return. I do not teach workshops for a living it is more of a break from reality in our normal everyday business. I enjoy sharing, teaching, learning with others together so hopefully people understand the value of a workshop is not simply based on the price they charge.

I feel this is an educating in itself also, to ALWAYS base the workshop on the amount of information your going to receive and not just the name teaching the workshop.

For our Central Canada appearance it will be the National Canadian Convention in 2009, however I am not sure I will be showing up (my choice) due to a wedding in Thailand which will trump any speaking engagement.
