I am trying to delete lots of rejected photos within Lightroom. According to my search here, and my Scott Kelby Lightroom book, I should be able to delete using Ctrl/Backspace. When I do that, it opens a dialog box that gives me the option:
confirm--on blue title bar
Remove the 216 rejected photos?
then buttons for Remove or Cancel
I thought that maybe I should upgrade to 1.3, but that didn't help.
Any thoughts??
thanks,
Laurie

I'm on Mac, but this is how I do it. I right click and select delete photo. Then, you should get a dialogue box that says delete photo or remove from lightroom where you can pick one. I wondered if you were trying to delete virtual copies. I know with those, you just get the "remove" dialogue box. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your question.

I just select the image, and hit the delete button on my keyboard. Then I get the option of remove or delete. If you are doing a lot of them in one folder, then I do it in the library mode and select multiple photos at once. Or I remove the entire folder by right clicking on the folder name along the left side.

I have been trying everything. If I right click on one or if I "select all"...either way, when the dialog box comes up, it justs has the option to Remove. I can't get it to give me the option to "delete".
I have rebooted and reloaded the program. I have upgraded to the 1.3 version. I can't get it to help me delete the photos off my computer.

You may be looking at previews instead of the files themselves. If there is a little symbol in the corner of the image like an exclamation point thing it means the file is in another place or hard drive CF card etc. When you find them I use the x key to select the deletes P for the picks. When all done use the little flags to select the deletes then delete or remove all of them at once. Right clicking will slow you down.

I have already gone through the files from these photo shoots, and p for picks and x for rejects. Then...now...I have filtered by x flags to bring up all the rejected photos. Once I am looking at all the rejected photos in the Library mode, I go up to Edit and select "select all". Then I choose Photo and then down to "Delete Rejected Photos". That then opens up a dialog box confirming that I want to "remove" these photos. It does not...as it is suposed to...give me the option to "delete" these photos.
