By the way, judging from the catchlights, it looks like you're using two lights, one on either side of the kid. That sort of lighting setup is generally considered a no-no in portraiture because it results in kind of flat lighting - you might want to experiment with one main light on one side and another weaker light in front of the subject, not to the side.

I've never been very good at the rules of portraiture - I just experiment daily and try to get something that both my clients & I love in the end!
The mom of the little man in the suit is quite amazing - she finds the greatest outfits & brings about 4 of them for her twins, and has lots of helpers for costume changes. At first I thought she was nuts, but she knows what she wants and she gets it!
She has brought them in for portraits 3 times in 6 months! So now I tell her she's the boss & tell me what I'm photographing this time! Here was one from 9 weeks old....
