Hi there!

I was curious if anyone knew of places that do editing for you? Places that aren't crazy outrageous expensive?
My second is Out of town for few weeks, so I am looking for some help! smile.gif

Would LOVE the suggestions!

Hi, Alea. What do you consider to be crazy outrageous expensive?

Thanks for posting the link Rebecca.

Alea, I offer competitive rates which scale depending on how many images you submit. I also offer a discount for multiple sessions and some free goodies too!

I'm happy to answer any questions here or privately if you'd prefer to be discreet.

Thanks!

i have about 200 shots from the formals- some of which might need a little more time then others because my flash was a little bizerk, so hopefully salvageable. So, what 50-75-100? for that amount of photos?
I've never outsourced before, so i really don't know. what do you think?

Another option as well: www.revolutionimagingdesign.com

Check out Colorati. I am using them for the upcoming season, their rates are amazing. The prices blow everyone else out of the water that I've seen, and the work is excellent.
And they're so super friendly and helpful.

I don't know Megan. I just looked at Revolution Imaging and their prices are $.04 or $.15 cheaper per image than Colorati depending on how you look at it, and they're even cheaper if you go with a package. Editbunny will edit and correct for $.04 cheaper (for their middle package) and Photographer's Edit seems to be about $.14 cheaper per image for their middle package. And I had a tough time making a true comparison for KampEdit because they include a lot of stuff in their price.

I'm sure Colorati is everything you said it is in terms of quality, but it doesn't seem cheaper. Especially when you consider the extra cost of editing down the images.

OOoops...

Wrong type of editing....

These guys seem to really be on top of things. I met them at WPPI and was very impressed.

Hey Megan!

Thanks for your kind words! biggrin.gif My calendar shows you're shooting this weekend. I'll send you a shipping label today!

You've raised an interesting point, Steve! To clarify: we have two levels of color services. 98% of our clients order standard color at $0.29/Raw image. Custom color is for the client who crafts up a seriously secret sauce!

But point well taken- we will never claim to be the low price leader. We want to lead the industry in setting the standard for quality and customer service!

- - - -

This got me thinking... and I thought I'd offer some thoughts on pricing- specifically package pricing vs. a la carte. (And I think I can prove that in some cases we do cost less and provide MORE! biggrin.gif )

Package pricing has a benefit: it's stable and you know EXACTLY what you're paying per wedding. We looked at package pricing and felt we could offer more to our clients by taking a traditional photo lab model. Here's why:

Let's look at a common package for color and art edit (or retouching) on 700 images.

Under package pricing what if you don't have exactly 700 images for a wedding? What if it's exactly 542? You pay the same price as if you submitted 700. sad.gif

Submit only 542:

**Please note turnaround time!**

And this raises another question- what if you want to send 798 images? Under package pricing, you'll pay about $100 more for 98 images. Add to this monthly or annual subscriptions and, well... you get the point.

Anyway- forget the math! To us what matters most is your satisfaction with our output and personal, attentive customer service.

Excellent comparison, Leon!

I've run the same pricing scenarios and came to the same conclusions, that pricing per image makes more sense and is more beneficial to the client.

It's unfortunate that many folks simply look for what's cheapest (unless it's about the bride's search for it). Searching for the right outsourcing solution has to be about much more than price alone.

I whole heartedly agree... with outsourcing it is very much more than what is the cheapest solution or how much more you get for your buck. With the anxiety that is attached to letting one's own images out of your hands, the solution is more about how comfortable you feel and knowing that you will receive a quality product at the end. Whether it be Colorati, DoodleDo (Nice new website by the way), Revolution Imaging & Design, or one of the many other post-production options, it's always good to compare much more than cost when you are about to make one of the best business decisions a photographer can make. smile.gif

bsteffine
Laurin! Hey, friend, we missed you out at WPPI. Was looking forward to hangin' out (though it was tough for those of us that did make it ... so busy!).

By the way, Alea, I wasn't implying that you are being cheap. Just want that to be clear. wink.gif

Haha. I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that.

If I was gonna outsource editing I would use Colorati. They really seem to have their stuff together.
