Can someone tell me what hijacking a post entails so that I may avoid doing it?

It's when you post something on a thread that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the thread. We usually try to stay on-topic.

Welcome to OSP - you'll love it here!

When someone starts a thread and you change the subject or interject your own problem such that it takes over the original post...that would be hijacking.
