Hey everyone!
As have many before me have done, so will I (because you all are so great!!).
I am a newbie but have learned so much in the past year without having any prior photography experience. This is my first album in PS. I did not use any predesigned templates at all. I did however, reference back to the great many wonderful designs posted here and elsewhere on this great world wide web.
If you have the time, please check out my 2nd album and please don't hold back.
2nd AlbumThank you in advanced and looking forward to your comments.
PS. My first album was through Pictage's album designer and I don't have the e-pics.

I like it (honestly)

I know that isn't the best critique but it's a nice album.

Thanks for the input.
I was looking at your website. I really like it. The colors are very vivid and bright.
Great job.
See Ya.

Hey everyone.
Really looking for some opinions. I know you got it in ya.
I posted this rather late today and it is late now, but if some could find their way to letting me know what you think, you will really be helping me out.
Thanks in advance.

its a nice album.
but if its opinions you're looking for, I think that some of the photos are kinda repetitive. For example, the shot of the red tie and vest. You have two in the album when all you need is one. There are also too many photos of the brides shoes and wedding rings. Your overall design will probably be stronger with less images telling the story rather than many shots of the same thing.
good job for a second album :]

Wonderful, Wonderful. Just what I'm looking for. Thank you for taking the time Gia.
It is most appreciated.

I think you did a great job.
I agree about the number of images. Perhaps a few too many. (I think the ring/shoe shots could come out - the shoe shots are great, as are the ring shots, but having the ring and shoes together feels posed, rather than recorded.)
I think the last two pages have two many pictures too. The two big pictures of the B&G are beautiful, and I think having so many smaller images takes away from those two shots. I think I would take the smaller ones out entirely for the last page, and for the second last spread, I'd use fewer small ones, maybe even take it down to one.
The bridal spread and the groom spread are awesome. The two background pictures you have in there are perfect.
I'm also not crazy about the pink colour you used. Did you pull it from something in the photos? It works really well on spread 17, but it seems a little insipid on the other pages. That's totally personal preference, but I wonder if a more orange colour, pulled from the flowers might work better.

Your photography is really nice, but many of your spreads are a little to busy.
First let me tell you the spreads that I love from your Showit Web, I will give you the slide nos.
11, 13, 18
1 - would look better if the church was in B&W and the couple bigger.
2 - I like the right side, but the left side would look better with just one photo, and I would chose the full gown on the lower right of that side.
3 - too many photos, I would simplify so on the left side I would have the large image of all the shoes, and the shot of the brides shoes on the lower left, and then on the right side I would only have the photo grooms ring on the program and the rings with the bride's shoe in the lower part of your side.
4 - I would change the small action shots of bride to B&W, and the ipod to B&W, maybe even the ones of the bridesmaids to B&W.
5 - I would change the small photos of the bride on the left side to B&W
6 - I would change the small photos in the middle of this spread to B&W and just have color of the groom and vest shots.
7 - I don't like the small photos on the left, I think the church would look better just by itself. I would change the top photo on the right side to one of the candle photos
I'll post more later I hope this helps:)

FANTASTIC!
I am like a child. I really love the suggestions. I really love this place.
Very comprehensive suggestions Tim. Wow. Rebecca, thanks so much. I see where you all are coming from.
I am going to compile everyone's suggestions tonight and see what changes I want to make. These are very helpful.
What I have taken from this is.
1. Redundancy in picture use.
2. Some spreads too busy, too many smaller pics.
3. Color / B&W choices.
4. Accent / Background color choices.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you everyone.
PS. I am still very giddy from the feedback.

J. Hardee,
8. I love the photo sequence on the left, but don't like the color of the background, I don't like the right side of the layout.
One suggestion is to simplify, but also to make sure that each spread clearly tells a story about the wedding, and doesn't confuse.
9. I don't like the shot of the groom with the bridesmaids on this spread, I would prefer an image of the bride with the bridesmaids.
10. I really like this spread.
12. Too many photos, simplify.
14. I don't like anything about this spread.
15. Simplify
16. Not one of my favorite spreads either
17. too busy
18. Love this spread
19. I would remove all of the small photos and just keep the background image as a panorama, what a storytelling image.
20. I don't really like the silhouette because the top right is too bright and prevents the eye from seeing the couple, you may be able to do a little photoshop magic to tone it down a little and brighten the sky behind the couple.
Hope this helps

Have you checked out Jerry Ghionis' new ICE web site? He does an album critique step by step and has given me great ideas for my future ones! (PS Its free and is so inspiring!!!)
I think for your 2nd album you have done a really great job! I have also only used Pictage and tweaked from there, but look forward to designing my own now!

Tim,
Much, much appreciated. I see everything you are talking about. I will tweak them and see what the B&G say. Thank you very much for taking the time. I know, as a photographer, your time is valuable. God Bless.

Firstly, I think that album is lovely and touching. I do see what others have pointed out with the shoes and business of the album, but overall I really did get into the story that you presented with your album. Thank you for sharing.

So first of all, you pictures are really great! I haven't read the other replies, but one thing is that I think you are getting too caught up in design of the album and not letting some of the pictures stand on their own. The pages are too busy, and I understand where you are coming from because you want to include all the good images, which they are, but sometimes less is more. For example, I think it is page 18 or 19. the back pictures is outstanding (the couple on the field), and I think that this spread should just be that one picture. It is breathtaking and will definitely make people stop to look at it.
Other than the busy aspect, I think you are well on your way! Nice work.
