Full Version: Financial software for Mac
OpenSourcePhoto > YA wanna FIGHT! > Mac vs. Windows

I swithced over to a Mac almost a year ago. I'm still so happy that I made the change! I've been using a free financial software called Cashbox and I think it is time to buy a better software program. I've read some really bad reviews about Quicken for the Mac. What do you use and what would you suggest for such a program? I will only be using this for my family finances...not my business stuff.

Thanks!
Matt

This is a good question that I would like to know as well.

I know there is icash, but I have never used it.

for my personal banking I use Quicken, have used it for years and it is fantastic. It connects to my bank and downloads all my transactions for me, so so nice. Very easy to use as well.

For personal finances, we use an application for Budget. Recommend it...100%!!!

Available for Mac and Windows, and free upgrades. I promise you'll be balanced within the first hour of setting it up. Works by the envelope method.

Hope that helps. thumbsup.gif

My husband does all the upkeep in it, but we use iBank for personal stuff, and its super easy/functional. He's pretty choosy about his mac software, and I know he likes it really well.

Interesting...I'm going to check that out! My wife and I just created a completely new budget and we were talking about the envelope method. Perfect timing! smile.gif

MYOB is awesome for Mac and it is Mac native I believe. It also has some great credit card processing options and business service options that rock.

+1 for iBank.

We are using version 3 beta and have no problems. They are constantly adding features. Most importantly you can now download your transactions from your financial institution and upload them into iBank.

I am a huge fan of online accounting apps etc. I recommend you check out Wesabe

Has anyone tried the mac version of quickbooks? I like the PC version, but their site says there are some limitations on the mac.

Quickbook's major Mac limitiation, I think, is that it can't be used in a multiuser environment like its Windows counterpart can. I've also heard that there are a couple of quirks when it comes to check printing, like you can only print one check on a page at a time.

When I checked out iBank, I noticed another piece of software called iBiz. Has anyone used this? When I switched to Mac I didnt get Quickbooks and I am looking for something else.
