I did a shoot for a local high school for a fundraising campaign, just thought I'd share.

I'd love to see someone try some textures on these!

I just realized that #14 looks like he's looking in a mirror, but he's just talking with a friend. Funny!

Great work. I'm going to show my ignorance here, but I have to know, what are the square things some of them have on their foreheads? Never seen that before.

+1 I was going to ask that too. I get everything else.

Awesome set, BTW. I love that the boys have this young, innocense to them, but they're representing long time traditions as well.

Hi Lynn,

It's that new Game Boy all the kids have been carrying around.

Or not. smile.gif They (there's one that goes on one's arm as well) are Tefillin.

"And you shall bind them as a sign upon your arm, and they shall be as 'frontlets' between your eyes" (Deuteronomy 6:8)

And yes, they only come in black. smile.gif

That's interesting, thanks for explaining.

OK, nobody get offended. I've always said that one of the seemingly universal attributes of Jews is a great sense of humor. and from someone not familiar with the culture, looking at the ringlets, hats, and head boxes, I think "Wow. You better have a sense of humor." I also think I need to know more about Jewish culture than I do.

Great images.

Hi Mark,

I'd have to think about whether or not I find my Jewish friends to be more funny than my non-Jewish friends. I make myself laugh all the time though. smile.gif

For us, of course, it's "normal". I think the same thing when I see teens on the street that have to keep one hand on their waistband to keep their pants from falling down. It's what you're used to, I guess.

Awesome images Tzal. Hard to pic a favorite, they are all very well done, and I love the consistency of the lighting and the B&W conversion. Thanx for sharing.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! laughing.gif

Seriously, I would say at least one of them. There's actually a dedicated daily bus from my town to B&H and back for folks who work there.

And no, I don't get a "member of the tribe" discount. smile.gif

Here's a picture from the bus. Daily prayer service on the way in, and the bus has it's own torah:

Here's what I did when I got there.

These look great, I don't know that I'd put a texture on them... maybe a little crackle or wrinkle texture on it, but really, they look great without.

Here's one Johnny did for me over on TMG:

I definately have to agree as well. it's a very strong shoot, and the muted editing is a great compliment to that.

http://www.jewfaq.org/index.htm is a great place to pick up some quick nuggets of knowledge as well.
