There are times when you wish you could just get a wider angle and I saw a Canaon Wide Adapter WD-58H that goes on the front of your exsisting zoom lense..do these work?

I think it's only for video. But I've never used it. Could be wrong. smile.gif

I have one, and I really like it. Mine also has a macro attatched, which I didn't discover until a few weeks ago.

I think it cost about $30 on Ebay, it was definatly worth that amount. However, I will get a REAL wide angle soon, and probably won't ever use the adapter again.

$30??? it is $$219 on calumet right now. It doesn't interfer with the quality at all?

In general the adaptars are not great quality....the $30 one is almost surely an off brand. It typically makes you lose a stop or two and will make your images less sharp. $219 is a bit of money but if i were you i would save my pennies and get a real wide angle....

just my 2 cents

I have never used a wide angle adapter on a still camera (only video), but keep this VERY important point in mind...

If it's called a wide angle adapter you can't zoom through it, but if it's called a wide angle converter you can zoom.

Does anyone have any experience with the wide angle adapters/converters or even infrared adapters/converters for the Canon G9...or even the previous model G7? I am just curious about them, if I were to use one for the "artsy" looking shots
