I'm starting to think about marketing to high school seniors. Is it mostly the girls who are looking for senior portraits, or are you shooting just as many boys as girls?

i shoot way more girls. I think though in my area we have more girls than boys cuz everyone goes and gets there senior pictures done. Some boys though could care less and for the yearbook have a picture taken by the tree =)

i am woman so i dont know if thats why i get more girls or not???

Almost exclusively girls (and I don't even market that I do senior portraits). Seems like the guys take whatever the "yearbook photographer" requirement option is...while girls will shop for something much better than the yearbook photographer (and have two sessions...one for the yearbook and one for themselves).

Females I feel in general like their picture taken more than males. What I try to do when I first get a call from a female is ask if they have a boyfriend. If they do, I tell them if the boyfriend books the slot right after the girl, we can shoot some of them as a couple between sessions. I also throw in 2 5x7s for him and her. This way I have a built in "hard closer" on my side.

A lot of men don't like the idea of having to primp or pose for a camera. They just don't have the slightest idea of how to do that. By having the male go after the female, he can see a bit of what is involved. Then she can help him get used to the camera by posing with him. Besides what guy won't try to do something outside of their comfort zone, if a woman they care for asks them to with a batting of the eyelashes?
