if you ever wanna talk 'mac' shop, talk to my husband, he has like all that stuff and more... i personally think if he could fit a wedding ring onto his mac, i'd be divorced.....

haha yes im giggling like a school girl... it's ridiculous. i figured what the hell? it's time for a new system.

hah, i'm not an impulse buyer at all....

no actually i've been planning this for quite some time... there are just a few things that recently pushed me over the edge.

Very cool, I have the same system with not as many upgrades, but considering the title of this thread, this is something you may want to take a look at.

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?t...51&tstart=0

Basiclly, the computer crashes sometimes when it wakes from sleep. I have the same issue as countless others on the discussion going on at apple.

Now this is something that is a show stopper for a lot of people, don't know if thats you.

I just went into the power management settings and disabled sleep and all my troubles went away. Once the issue is fixed maybe I'll re-enable sleep. This is unacceptable for some.

And if you don't want to go through the whole thread, the basic idea is that people are have problems with every configuration. Some are totally stock, others are with significant upgrades...it doesn't seem to matter.

Again, I just disabled sleep and all is fine and it's an amazing machine. Also, I don't mind the fact that it doesn't sleep properly. I converted from a PC where I can say I have always had problems with sleep/hibernate/stand by working properly. It's a desktop, so let it stay on.

EEEK bought it.... and the RAM... and the extra hard drives.... it will be here in like a week.

Michael, I had similar sleep problems with my G5 (the computer going to sleep, not me) and they've since been resolved, but yeah, i usually disable sleep mode (maybe thats what happened to me lastnight...) on my computers anyway.

I'm gonna go pee my pants now. I can only imagine what it will be like when i get my first KISS book!!

That is so cool dude, I just bought the same thing (minus the RAM and hard drives.) So far I really like it, and I am excited to start using it to edit some weddings. Where did you buy the RAM and hard drives? And how did you decide how much RAM to buy?

I got the RAM from transintl.com, I've bought a ton of upgrades from them for various mac systems that I've worked on. Their prices and customer service are great and their ram is covered by a lifetime warranty. I bought the hard drives from newegg after some research into which one to get.
