I just signed up for Vonage, got the adapter, hooked it up and it works awesome! But before I disconnect my landline with Comcast I'd like to hear your input. What do you love or hate about it?? Any problems come up later on? The one thing I was mainly concerned with was the bandwidth usage and how it would affect my internet connection speed. So far it doesn't seem to affect it at all. When I'm using the phone, I can download stuff just as fast.

Please let me know of any drawbacks to having it. I plan on disconnecting my landline on Monday. Thanks.

The main drawback I heard is dialing 911, I understand your phone number and address will not come up on their display on your local police or fire dept.

There was a thread a while back about this too... 1-800-Numbers

I LOVE it!! No problems yet! People on the other end say I sound like I'm in the same room. Even more so on a Vonage-to-Vonage connection (only tried that twice).

I've got a mobile too that I depend on a LOT but don't see a need for a land-line.

LUV how it send you an email when u have a message and can forward your calls to wherever you want!

Back on topic, I'm using Primus' broadband service up here in Canada now. I'm TOTALLY thrilled with the service so far. Other than they spelled my name wrong on the billing contract.

The phone connection is primo for me. The 13+ services that are included are incredible in comparison to the 3 services I was paying for with our local company.

Oh, and did I mention that I'm saving like 33% off my old phone charges. PLUS I have 100% free LD in North America.

LOVE it!

I'll have to look into this and verify, but I do remember them taking my address down for the 911 activation. I believe I just have to make sure it's tied in to my current address. Thanks for mentioning this.

Thanks Liana for the 800 info - I'm using accessline for the toll free number, but I might switch it to Vonage!

I swear I thought I took a few of you from Talega, but I didn't see any. But I did find a couple from Coto de Caza. Like this one...

vonage is awesome. I've had it since it came out (about 3 years). As long as your internet connection is solid you wont have any problems. We save a TON of money since we have lots of family oversees and their international rates are awesome. Couldnt be happier. And yes, for 911 service you just have to input your address and location which you can do online.

Greg, I don't know at all, but I was just thinking that you might have some audio delay if your upload bandwidth is limited and you are uploading an event to pictage.
I know that my cable company here limits upload speeds to much slower than the download speeds so make sure to test it out.
