Portraiture - there is nothing like it. It's sold by imagenomic.
I have totally rad and it's good as well. I have all of kubota's too. But Portraiture takes all when you have a client that is wrinkly (like me:), has acne all over or just has rough skin.

what do you guys do when you have a lot of acne? I mean a lot. I had a few seniors this year that it was reallly hard to get the skin to look normal with so many spots. I mean without the skin looking too fake or the colors in the face seem all one color because you cant really take from one spot because of all the acne. It just looks like fake skin to me.
I do know that i have a makeup artist and she has helped a ton but some wont pain the money. And for boys???
any suggestions or before and afters?

What I like about it, is that it's not an action, but a system for retouching.
Don't get me wrong it's super easy to go overboard with it, but I think her way of doing it is one of the best I've seen.

Not a plugin, but I bought it specifically for seniors with bad acne.
http://www.portraitprofessional.comIt really is as easy as it says. Less than 30 seconds for all the retouching. Check out the before and afters on their website.

There are many good one... But my favorite one by far...
Retouche by Totally Rad ActionsAll their actions are great!
Another one that is very good but is a plugin is
Portraiture. It does a great job separating skin from the rest and can be batch processed. It gives you a lot of control and even allows you to warm up the image from within the plugin. I bought it when the Kodak Airbrush plugin stop working on PS CS3, and I am glad it did because I discover what I think to be better solutions.
I have both and use them both. Bot Retouched is my workhorse. Totally Rad rocks!
Portraiture cost the same as the entire Totally rad so my advice would be that unless you need batch process your images, go for Totally rad first.

oh no no no my husband will be doing this

he is the edit man when it comes to retouching, but he is excited that i found it. He basically has just taught himself how to do it all. I so do not work that way. Im excited though cuz with that i think i could do it.

Make your own to suit your taste, Rowe.
Copy layer
Gaus Blur 25-30
Mask the layer
Set layer opacity at ~20%
Set brush at ~25%
Paint on the smoothness
Adjust layer opacity to taste.

I've done a quick read of the post and didn't see anyone mention Mama Shan's a.k.a. Photoshop Mama's powder actions. I really love them!

In regards to acne or skin issues in general, I use the clone stamp a lot... frequently changing the opacity and the size of the stamp.... Sometimes very large to cover the whole cheek with a very light opacity (15-25%?) and then for the specific problem spots, I'd do a smaller stamp size with a higher capacity. I'd only do that on seniors who have chosen like, 3 images they want touched up because it does take some time (unless they're paying you a lot for it). I'm constantly hitting control Z to go back a step to see what it looks like, so that if what I did looks too "fakey" then I just redo it. I haven't done it on seniors, but I have done it on newborns with serious newborn rash and dry skin (which looks like acne). I've probably done it on like... 100 babies? I dont' have any examples though, because the pics are all on my old boss's computer-- I'm sorry! I hope that makes a LITTLE sense... it's kind of difficult to explain, but I hope that helps?

Greg, that's a great tutorial! I loved it! I'm a very hands on person too, so demonstrations are SO helpful! I love how Christy's goal is to make sure it still looks natural as well and that she realizes that it's important not to lose sight of where you're coming from because it CAN get to be very "fakey" if you lose sight of it!
