I'm pretty sure lightroom works on JPEGs.... I assume that all the presets, then, also work with JPEG? (Correct me if I'm wrong, someone?)
Wow, I didn't help at all:)

Actually some presets work better on RAW than JPEG, or vice versa. I don't know about the brilliant ones though. I would support and ask them.
Shawn Kloster
Well... yes... you CAN use JPGs in LR. But... The presets don't work as well as they do on RAW files. I tend to get overexposed shots with presets used on JPGs.
Leon
Yes, kind of a bummer- Presets behave completely differently on JPEGs than Raw images.

Take for example contrast. Your JPEG has already been "processed" by your camera. Contrast has already been added. So when you add a Strong Curve to a JPEG, it clips the shadows and creates a really harsh look. On Raw files, Strong Curve is a good starting point.

Other features like White Balance work on a completely different scale that is hard to translate in a preset. Open a Raw file and look at the temp/tint sliders. Now open a JPEG file. Temp/Tint start at 0 while Raw files are on a "degrees" scale.

Hope that helps!

lightroom is a raw processor first and foremost. I recommend shooting raw the next time out...i highly doubt that you'll ever go back to jpeg. at least that how it happened to me. :-)

It's been a lot of help! thank you all, after this I bought brilliant, and I've been trying both, raw and jpg and I've seen evident difference.
Thanks people. you're awesome.
