OK Never shot raw.
wanted to play with it but cannot open the file in CS3.
What am I not doing?
Is it even possible?
CS3 is used to tweak your raw files , no?

I am not a Nikon shooter....but you should be able to open the D3 file using Adobe Camera Raw in CS3 either via Bridge or from CS3 by File>Open. If you are unable to do this, then apparently you need to update CS3. You can do this by Help>Updates. Your version of Camara raw should be 4.3.1 by the way.

Yes, make sure you update the RAW support for Photoshop.
Technically, PS do not convert RAW files but Adobe Camera RAw which is part of Bridge and PS CS3.
As long as you have the latest update for Camera RAW you should see your image sin Bridge and be able to perform adjustment.
Even better, download a trial version of Lightroom and play with it.

I love shooting in raw and use CS3 and Nikon. You should be able to just go into PhotoShop, open the raw image and it should take you directly to camera raw-so easy!! I love it. Hopefully this helps.

The D3 update should be available by now. Every time a new camera is released, the RAW software has to be updated. Adobe must have an update for the D3 available. Check their website.
