I finally got around to downloading and installing the Lightroom trial on my computer...

Was having a flick through, and whilst its similar to Bridge, I can see it may take a little bit more getting used to...

Then I came across the Slideshow function, after reading about it on here... its something Ive been wanting to do for weddings in the future, and Im SOOOO stoked! I love the whole presets idea, and how the tools are layed out similarly to Bridge, but doing a slideshow using RAW images!?! ohmy.gif biggrin.gif HOW AWESOME!

And then I went to the Web tab - Ive been using Simpleviewer galleries for my website, and having to individually edit and crop each image for the web image and then thumbnail, and THEN write out the coding by hand....

BUT Lightroom has it all on there!!!!!!! dancingbanana.gif dancingbanana.gif
I might actually be able to get my new website finished in less than 6months now! clap.gif

so yes - I think Im converted! biggrin.gif

Oh my gosh! I have never messed with the slide show part of lightroom. So I read your post and pulled it up and bam! Slideshow made in seconds. Thanks for sharing! I love that you can do it with RAW photos. I heart lightroom wub.gif

the slideshow module is probably the most neglected in my workflow, but it is pretty cool. if you guys think the slideshow module is cool, check out the web galleries :-) they're coming along, but i hope to see significant improvements in LR 2.0. really the only things i use in LR are the Library and Develop modules.

I can't imagine life without Lightroom.

For the web galleries, you might check out SlideShowPro... it's $25ish and the galleries seem quite a bit schwankier than what comes with LR itself. Also, Matthew [someone] has created several FREE web gallery presets; his blog is called The Turning Gate.

There are also an INSANE amount of develop presets out there, both paid and free, and it just make LR more and more addicting every day!

I love LR too.

most of my website is made using lightroom all except the into pages into each section. My weddings, newborn, wedding albums, client galleries are all lightroom.

I used to use ShowIt Effects on every photo in PS, but the last wedding I was like, HEY... I'm going to try doing some quick presets in Lightroom and export THOSE images for a slideshow. It worked really well and saved some time! I still use LomoIT in ShowIt Effects for some of my portrait work, but I think I'm going to be using lightroom now for wedding slideshows.

Wow. I never even thought about using this feature. It's a lot faster to setup than ShowIt. Although it'd be nice if it had the zoom features that ShowIt does.

For those of you who have used it during weddings, do you pull the images off an external disk? Or do you download your images directly to the laptop? By external disks, I mean ones such as the Epson P4000 or a ImageTank, HyperDrive, etc. I'm running the slideshow right now off another computer on the network and it runs decently fast surprisingly! I do notice some skips and freezes but not bad considering. Just wondering what's the performance for external drives USB drives.
