Just wanted to request prayers for all those who have been affected by the shooting at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. My brother is a student there and my mother in law works in the building adjacent to where the shooting happened. She was all shaken up today because students were running into her office for safety and she sat and cared for one of the students who was shot. It is so crazy that this is happening so much these days and so crazy that this one hit so close to home for me. Thankfully all of the people that I know are ok, but a lot of others have been hurt and some have died. I have such a pit in my stomach right now... I am ready for winter to be over and for these things to just stop happening to innocent people.

So sorry to read your story, Katie, and what your MIL had to go through. I didn't even hear about this until I saw your post.

Oh my goodness that's awful.

Prayers will be said for all affected. My heart twisted when I heard the news.

I understand your shock and pain. I live in Kirkwood where 6 people were shot in the city hall one week ago today. We are still reeling, but are coming together in our grief to heal as a community.

I will say a prayer that your hometown can do the same.

So sad.

One of my best friends was on campus. Her neices daycare is in the same building. Her mother also works in the building adjacent to where the shooting was. Everyone I know is fine.
