Full Version: I got a free photoconductor unit...

Along with my usual ink cartridge shipment from Epson today I received an Aculaser Photoconductor Unit. I don't even own this printer, haha.

However, it did get me thinking.

I have wanted to pick up a nice laser printer, and this may be the perfect excuse to get one. Now I know that they can be ridiculously expensive to purchase and then maintain (as far as toner and the photoconductor units go). And I DON'T intend on making photographic prints with this baby. Just marketing material and such.

Has anyone had good results with a laser printer? Possibly even an Epson Aculaser printer? I know it's a somewhat boring subject, but I would appreciate your thoughts.

I have a laser printer in my studio that i use for invoicing, contracts, some promo material etc. It's a HP Color LaserJet 2605dn with toner that is proposed to last for 4000 pages in color. I have no doubt that it will do that too, as I've printed a ton of stuff over the past few months and my toner level has not dropped one bit. I think the four toner cartridges are about 85 bucks a piece, but you can replace them one at a time depending on which one is empty of course, so you'd rarely ever have to replace all of them at once. The printer was really not that expensive either, check it out on newegg.com or cnet.com for the lowest prices :-)
