Oh, sweet set-up! That is on my "must get" list - so awesome! Can't wait to see what beautiful things you do with it!

I've been thinking about getting that Lowell light for a while - does anyone know which Bescor battery is in that Yervant video? Its not that I "must have what Yervant uses!!!" - but I really like that its so tiny!

I already carry enough stuff - I don't want another big battery! smile.gif

Yeah I think ill also need a smaller battery down the track...

yervant's battery looks a bit like the Bescor NMH-54. it'll give your about 1hr at 50w and 30mins at 100w.

...fft I want what yervant has tongue.gif

Ahhhh, I'm so glad I saw this post! I just saw a video with Jerry Ghionis and he used a video light - it was AMAZING what he did - absolutely gorgeous! Do you guys know, what is the advantage of using this over normal studio flash/strobe?? I realize it's continuous but is the light quality different....? I know nothing of video lights but see people like Jeff and Julia Woods use it...seems more and more people are doing it.

I don't know much about video lights, so I may be talking out of me a$$ but from what I have gathered from talking to other photog's...

* it is easier to use video lights for really subtle fill - in a way that it looks like there has been no additional lighting used

* WYSIWYG - what you see is what you get - for me it will be alot faster to flick on a videolight - dim it if necessary and watch where the shadows fall - rather than setting up the off-camera strobe, dialing up / down its power, chimping to see the results, moving the light in / out etc etc - this would be probably be different for someone who was a pro strobist

* It is apparently easier to balance with ambient light - in particular shooting at night

um... I guess ill come up with more from having a play.

alot of people are getting into them here thanks for tricoast and others using them.

Thanks for sharing. I've always liked the warm quality of light that you get from video lights and the softer edge compared to strobe.

Awesome, can't wait to see your review! I just ordered mine today, but with a Bescor PRB-15XLR battery... not sure if that's a good set up or not, but we shall see.

this looks awesome! at my last wedding i mainly used the videographers light rather than my flash since the ceiling was low and BLACK. and the results were pretty nice.
