Client is requesting a quote:
What would you charge for 6 hours of coverage and a high rez CD (photos will be processed so it's not a straight shoot and burn)
I know most of you work only with packages but I have it open and I'm not expecting to book the date by anyone else because it's so close, so I thought I would at least quote something.

So there will be processing time as well? Charge what you charge hourly, then for processing then for a CD.. say $150/hr, $500 for a CD, then processing time=$50/hr. Just a guess though. I don't know about your market and what it's worth there.

What's your minimum hourly shooting rate and what would you pay someone (hourly) to edit/post-process?
There's your quote.
Example: (100x6)+(13x6)=678 ... round up to $700 (these are arbitrary numbers)
My actual
pricing for something like this would be $1500

I have these items available a la carte. So I charge $2000 for 6 hours of coverage (which includes online slideshow and online proofing and ordering through Pictage only, besides the actual coverage and correspondence), and $750 for a high res dvd of finished jpegs. So I would charge $2750 plus sales tax. This ends up being what a lot of my couple book me for. In the end it all pays for my time because I have no actual costs other than traveling to the wedding, the dvd and postage. Works out great.

It definitely varies. We charge $3200 for 6 hours and $800 for the digital negatives.

We charge $2000 for unlimited hours (so 6 hours would be included in that! LOL) then $500 for the high res-disk. At least for now.

We charge $250 per hour, then $400 for this disc when we do these types of weddings.
Just whatever you do, put everything in writing!

$2250 which would include the DVD/CD of processed images + all the online stuff. (online proofing, print ordering, slideshow etc...) IF I was open and it was local and it was soon (Feb or Mar) I would probably give them a break on price if they asked.

I was thinking $150 an hour = $900 and $800 for cd so that would be $1,700 total. Anybody else want to give their example of 6 hours and hi-rez cd (color balanced) quote?

what is the client's budget?
what is your rate? shooting for 6 hours will create how much post WORK for you? photographing a wedding is not just showing up and taking pictures for a few hours.
IMHO to quote work on a per hour shooting rate is a big mistake, as you give the impression that the only time you are paid for is the time you shoot. you need to explain to them that the largest part of your job will be in post production. at that point - limit what you deliver (to say 250 images) that way you only need to process that many files. if they want more, it costs more.
if you go this route, 6 hours shooting, 8 hours processing x your hourly rate
per image - what do you charge for prints?
this would be about ... $2950. are you starting to see what you're worth?
if their budget is less, limit the images to 150, or so. if you do the math, this is not a difficult task. you will be shocked how inexpensively you are willing to work.

Hmmm...if I knew that was my last chance to book the date...I'd probably charge enough for it to be worth my while...and about 20-40% more than they think they can afford.
Well...you asked.
