Im a photographer from Western Australia, specialising mostly in weddings and corporate portraiture and events at the moment. Id love to move into more industrial and editorial photography eventually.
Ive studied photography since I was about 14 in high school, and then went to one university to study, found a better course in Melbourne so I went over there and loved it! During university I assisted other photographers as my main job, and Im glad I got both the study side of photography learning and the on-job learning as well.
I graduated from the RMIT (Photography) last year (2007), after my final year of study (2006) was interrupted by having to have 6months of chemo... but I finished my folio during this, and submitted it, passed quite well, and FINALLY graduated a year later.
Everything was looking up for this year, except unfortunately my 12month checkup came back showing the cancer had returned, so Im in the middle of my 2nd chemo treatment, and my business is on hold for now. The outlook is good for my health, but I have had to cancel 3 weddings, and a possible fourth depending on how quickly my stamina comes back, but I will be fine after all this.
The break is actually good because it gives me some ideas on what direction I want my business to take, evolve some ideas, and take a little bit of a rest.
My passion subject/genre in photography is details in landscapes - the little details that make the whole - its rare I will take a full panorama landscape shot without the details as well. And I love editorial style portraiture - really interesting people with stories to tell. Ive got a few series of these on the go at the moment, so Im sure I will share them eventually.
Umm yeah - thats me
