So I just got my Vision Art Book. 12x12 24 spreads. First let me say, the customer service at Vision Art is like no other. This girl (April) handwalked me through stuff like I was her sister, then called me to help me fix what I screwed up. They are great!!

Back to the book.
I love the cover, I love the fact that it is solid and well put together. I guess what Im tripping on is the pages are very "Matte". Its press printed on like kind of a heavy wieght cardstock, not photo paper so its kind of flat.
Im on the fence on wether I love it or not. I know they come highly recommended and they have an excellent price, just wondered how brides like them.

Do they have anything to say about the finish?

I guess Im comparing it to a Whie Wedding album I just saw that is printed on Lusture paper. It looks more phot-ish.

What say the Vision Art Lovers. Convince me.
Hope
Try the laminated pages. I haven't yet, but if you aren't into the modern matte texture then I'm pretty sure the laminate are for you! I hear that the colors pop with the laminate pages like whoa. I like the matte, but my next album I order will have laminate pages. Try both to see what's right for you before going to another company. Try getting a sample album with laminate pages from them (they might give you a deal) if you aren't going to be ordering any time soon.

hey jennifer.... .

I have used VA for a little over a year and brides are wowed by them bc they AREN'T anything like a regulart "photo" album.

I actually ordered my first laminated book and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I like it better than the matte. And the 2 brides I've shown it to had different opinions. One bride chose the matte one preferred the laminate. The one who chose laminate is VERY VERY traditional..... EXTREMELY traditional in fact.

I saw your post on that earlier and it got me thinking. I offer a 30 page book (not sides, pages), which is very big and very expensive and the laminate on top of that would be a but biter. What I may do is cut down on the amount of pages and laminate them. Then it would be perfect. One more question. Do you think brides would rather have more pics (spreads) or shiny paper that looks more like photo paper?Im having issues..pardon me.

See below.I bet they do POP. Maybe thats what is erking me a little. The Matte pages seem so flat. Laminate would probably look a bit slicker. If anyone here in St. Louis has one Id love to see it.Thanks

I offer the lamination as an add on option. You could offer to swap out some spreads for lamination if the bride preferred. Or go to a credit system. I offer $2000 album credit and they can order it anyway they want.

Thanks much for the input. I'll nibble on it some more. Funny, I keep walking away, then looking at it, then walk away, then look at it again. It seems to be growing on me.

Kind of like a new haircut. I think I just need to get used to it since it is "different".

Thanks!!

Vision Art books are sweet. You are also correct about the great customer service.

But they are not press printed. They are ink jet on Epson Matte paper. I think it makes a great fine art look.

see if they will send you a sample album with laminated pages. I just saw one recently that was laminated and I liked it a lot better than the regular. I think you will feel better about the laminated pages.

Hope that helps!!

Your probably right. I wish I had lots of money, then I would just reorder it in Laminated and decide which one I like better. (Te-He)

seriously, call them and see if they've got a sample to send you...even if its just one page. smile.gif

seriously check on the sample album. They sent me one...with regular pages b/c I didn't ask for the laminated. They required a $100 deposit, which they will refund if you send it back to them. biggrin.gif

"just wondered how brides like them.

Do they have anything to say about the finish? "

My opinion; is the matte fine art finish, all the way. It is what sells jobs.

I was at a bridal show a few years ago and was placed basically last in the flow of the brides.

The response to the Vision Art fine art paper was overwhelming. After seeing every other album/books the Vision Art matte stood out. The response was always "I've never seen anything like that' and I would get the wedding or get an anointment.

Not saying that the lamination does not look good. But it does look like a nice photographic print. And every so often I do make a laminated book.

Yet the client does not see anything new or different with the lamination. And to make the sale we need to look new and different.

Now there are some brides out there that want the "traditional look' and you do not need to show them what they have already seen. But when your trying to make the sale many times we need something that they have not seen before.
