Off camera flash worked fantastically for these band pics. I have a wireless transmitter (that cost $100) that I connect to my camera and to my flash. I then have a round plastic casing (like a big round lighbulb cover) that my flash sits in, creating wider smoother coverage. This connects to a monopod that can be held at various angles.

Looks awesome. Off camera light definitely adds a different flare to photos.
I like all the "personality" of these. I've really got to work on my off-camera lighting...This looks so fun!
