Would anyone like to outsource their vacation to me? I would be much obliged, i charge reasonable rates, and will cover half of my meal/lodging costs as part of my "value added" methodology!

In all seriousness though it's not a bad thing at all. Imagine being able to be a photographer, and JUST TAKE PHOTOS and only edit the ones that you particularly love. Sign me up for that.
Ginger
blink.gif You mean you can't actually do all this for me? blink.gif

You didn't mention Bellissima Design for editing OR album design. What's up with that?! laughing.gif

I feel terribly neglected.

Matt Antonino
lol I also didnt mention Albumesque for album design because to me, Pictage is just easier than using another person. You push a button, you get a layout. lol

And I didn't know y'all were doing editing now. I'll add you to the evergrowing list. lol

But of course! Not only did we add editing/processing recently, but we are gearing up for the launch of some great new things, as well as some exciting new collaborations.

It's all a secret right now! ph34r.gif

Isn't this what we all want?!

Now if you can get, say, 20 desperate photogs to work under your brand, and get each one shooting one event every weekend, that's $2000 per weekend. I think there are few places out there doing it.

for those of you looking for a solution to vacation outsourcing,

i will only be able to handle a few vacations this year until my staff is properly trained. i will beat bryce's price, although my vacations are template driven.

You forgot outsourcing apology letters/gifts for your wife(a la 4HWW) to a personal assistant in India! smile.gif
J Scott
I'm going to start outsourcing toothbrushing and showering to India..oh and washing clothes to bangladesh.

Is there a minimum charge per session or are all the answers al-la-cart? ohmy.gif

Also, could I get my answers on a DVD with copyright permission?

And what about second philosopher? How much is that? I don't mind paying for a second if they can get all of those cool angles you do......

With the downturn in the economy, I have decided to go A la carte with my answers. With a minimum charge of 5 answers @ $1500. Each additional answer would range depending on the depth of the question. Minimum would be $300 with a maximum of $650 per additional answer.

At this time, answers on DVD with copyright release would run an additional $1000 (plus any applicable taxes).

Second philosophers are available.
My top tier philosophers run $750 per Q/A
My second tier philosophers run $525 per Q/A

If you have any further questions, I will have to begin billing you based on the information set forth in this post.

Thank you and have a great day.

Your prices are too high! I have a cousin that is in school to get all of the answers right now and she said she would answer my questions for $300 and for the experience.

I have heard some of her answers before - and, well - their pretty good!

She just bought and an Encyclopedia XTI said it can produce answers as good as the pro's, like yourself.

And she knows another guy who is willing to give me a deal on a 12X12 Kiss Answers Book too!

So I will have to decline your services. Thanks for wasting your time and energy on something I knew I couldn't afford anyway!

Your loss. Sorry to have wasted my time.

Works for DJ, right? smile.gif Seriously, that's the difference between being in the photography biz and the photography product biz - for something like ShowIt, create it once and sell all the copies you want.

Granted, there are customer support costs, etc., but if memory serves, DJ sold $20,000 of ShowIt in one day (or was it one week? Either way...).

Why are we digging for gold when we could be selling the Levis and shovels to other miners?

OHHHH, well, that makes all the difference in the world! I'll take the $100 to do nothing X 20 and make $2000 per weekend.... well, then I would have to hire someone to organize all this, so I might be down to $1000....
During the slow time I might only be able to get 5 or 10 on a weekend... that means I won't make anything. Hmmm..... maybe I'll try to take on the outsourcing of other peoples vacations instead. That sounds a little better to me!

Matt, can I hire you to arrange all of that arranging for me?

You don't want to know.

This article is Classic. Sometimes I think it is funny how much "artists" brag about not creating art. I personally like photographing more than post-production, however, I cannot imagine NOT having a hand in each aspect of the design I present to my clients
bsteffine
Well, the interesting thing about outsourcing is that, if you were a photographer before digital, unless you processed your own film and/or printed your own prints in the darkroom, you were outsourcing it. Photographic labs were plenty, and very busy, and many were large-scale production houses, because many shooters were outsourcing their work.

With digital, it's a little odd that so many of us feel we have to do it all ourselves, as though someone else can't do an equally good, or perhaps better job of it.
