Full Version: BrideFreak v2?

Matt Antonino
I usually don't promote BrideFreak because I figure some people have it - and if the rest wanted it, they'd probably just tell me, but I've been tweaking it & adding some plugins, tweaking again & making it photographer-perfect. Right now it's about 90% so I feel good to say that BrideFreak v2 is almost here!

New to BrideFreak:
* import tasks from Excel (.CSV) (HUGELY important - do NOT want to type 20 tasks per wedding directly into BF)
* export tasks into Excel (.CSV) - good for backing up your list, exporting completed tasks to archive, and lots of other good uses.
* add files to tasks - up to 10 MB files can be attached directly to a task. If you're going out of town - have that contract with you. Have your work directly on hand accessible via your laptop.
* GTD improvement - better contexts, more GTD'able. Will definitely fit in the framework of your task managing life better.
* Photographer status levels (assistant, associate photographer, management, admin/owner)

For those who don't know, BrideFreak is my custom installation of a Taskfreak task list. You can install Taskfreak yourself. However, it's open source software with a license to modify, distribute, upgrade & sell. I've made some tweaks, used some other user tweaks, etc. and tried to create a product that will help you get stuff done in 2008.

You can see the old version at http://www.bridefreak.com but new info will be coming soon on all that stuff if there's interest.

Well this got thrashed way to the bottom of the list so I figure I'll give it one shot up. smile.gif I just did my first task import - over 100 tasks into BFv2 in about 5 mins of import after I typed them in Excel! Very cool. smile.gif

Matt...

I missed Bride Freak first time around.

What is Bride Freak? Why would I need it?

Thanks

Hi Troy,

Sorry I missed this comment - I stopped watching for replies after awhile. lol

BrideFreak is my custom install of the Taskfreak program (which in its license says that it can be distributed, modified, etc.)

The reason I made BrideFreak was so we could track our day to day tasks (ie. schedule couple's session, shoot couple's session, backup originals, edit couple's session files, backup edited files, upload couple's session online, etc.) Our list per wedding is 25-35 tasks just to get ONE wedding done and I figured over the course of a year, 600+ tasks split among 2-3 people can get REALLY confusing on where you are with each client.

This:
http://mattantonino.com/tutorials/bridefreak/bridefreak001/

shows a VERY basic bridefreak v1 install. It doesn't show projects clearly or much but it shows why & how we use it.

This:
http://mattantonino.com/tutorials/bridefreak/bridefreak002/

shows a BrideFreak v2 with custom projects, importing bulk tasks with CSV, etc. This is what my BrideFreak currently looks like.

I can attach files for our associates (or for my own tasks later on so I don't have to find them again), I can bulk import, bulk export (good for backing up & printing).

My favorite part of BrideFreak is that I or anyone else can access it from anywhere. This means that our associate photographers can check it from their house, Sarah can check it from here and we can view our tasks anywhere basically.

Hope that helps - I'm currently working on new BrideFreak tutorials but for now, that should get you started on what it is. I also have a site up with *some* documentation at http://www.bridefreak.com
