I've been using my own music that I write and record with friends. I also have a really good friend who's a world class pianist and I use his music as well.
I've actually contacted a growing number of independent musicians who want to make their music available to professional photographers and videographers with a "sync license", and so I'm building a music site for precisely this. It will have music available by lots of different artists with a license that will allow you to use the music on slideshows, dvd's , websites, etc... It will launch in the next few months and its going to be:

That's awesome. It's nice to be able to use your own music. I, however, am not talented in that area. It would be nice to use some independent musicians.
