StacyC
No offense, but . . . is this for real?

I got mine for FREE from GS - are they no longer offering them free????
Matt Antonino
I was wondering if this was the "free sample" as well and it is. Ok, thx, I'll pass. I was looking for a 16x20" or something that I could show clients the size of the book. smile.gif

(free is good tho)
SarahQ
Yeah, I got this for free, too. Are you saying they charged you $500 for it, Mark??
Mark
Same thought here - are they selling them now? I got our sample album and briefcase for free as well when we signed up. I'd be curious to know if they stopped doing that.
jdelvecchio
I didn't even ask for one and they sent me one too.
Mark T.
That's right. I'm confused. I checked my records, and I spent about $500 on a sample album, but it was a design/print/bind job. You're right, the acrylic was like $35 for shipping if I remember right now.

So, anybody want the sample? If you want to use GS it's a great tool, but I'm done with those folks. I can get a LC the same size and better quality.

I have had nothing but a great experience so far with Graphi. Their design looks good. their color correction looks good, and their customer service has been good. No complaints here. I also use Art Leather, and Reniassance. I would have to say, Art Leather has been the most consistent all around service and quality.

What advantages do you see for each company?

Same here, except that we have had a couple production issues, but nothing that would make me up and change my product line.

I know some people have had problems. In my experience your local rep makes a big difference. The first one we had was horrible, but our current rep is always answering my questions and helping me out.

The only reason I would think of switching or adding another album line would be to have one with a quicker turn around time, but all I know is that we have booked MANY MANY weddings just on them seeing the albums we show them. I do think it's important to not just use their sample but to have some of your own designs to show clients.

Any album company that has humans involved in the process will have problems.

I thought Art Leather was having some problems. I get them and LC confused all the time.

If you can please tell me what about Graphi that is not meeting your needs? I have their FREE sample book, and a sample book with my own images, and a set of parent albums. They sent them all to me relatively fast.

I am very curious. Yes there is the Language barrier thing.....but so far that has not been an issue with me. I deal with my local rep exclusively...

EVERY Graphi album I've seen bleeds pink on the b&w seams.

I have to say, Vision Art out of Iowa has a SUPERIOR book... I've been looking a bit at Asuka books too and must say, there are a lot of GREAT companies out there. My only complaint with Graphi is their pricing and turnaround. Perhaps that's changed a bit in the last 2 years since I used them last as everything has seemed to change... it's just getting easier and easier and PLENTY more choices in the marketplace.

My issue with GS is the pages. The printing looks fine, the design, well, not so great, but the pages and construction just doesn't thrill me. Even closed they have waves, in the "free" sample, and in the one I had made (that really did cost $500, and I'll sell it if anyone wants it.). I know a lot of people love them, but I just don't.

When we started our business, way back when we used a thing called film, we started off with Renissance. They were also the first company we used for a flush mount album. The only frustrating thing with them has been two issues, which aren't huge, just kinda of frustrating
. We have our album pages printed at our lab and we send it to them. Almost every order they seem to call and say that they need a reprint of some page that was damaged. I never have had this problem with Art Leather, not once. I use both companies alot. Also I never get any kind of notification from Reniassance, weather it's arrival, in production, or shipping. I get confirmations throughout the process with Art Leather. Their customer service has been great for us. They hammered out 4 albums for us after the Christmas deadline, and got them back in plenty of time for our customers for the holiday. The only thing that concerns me is that they filed for Chapter 11, and it has not affected us, and the products they deliver, it scares me, if one day they shut down, and I have albums in production.
Graphi Studio, has been so far nothing but perfect for us. I have designed my own, and I have had them design for us. The color correction and the product came within a quick time. Someone metioned the pink lines in the middle of the pages, that happens, and we knew it when we started offering them. Our clients love the look. I do want to offer some other albums, but I haven't decided what else I would like to offer. there are so many companies coming out, I just don't know how they are all going to make it, so i want to choose carefully.
I don't thing you can go wrong with any of the big companies, Art Leather, Leather Craftsman, Reniassance, Asuka, Graphi, etc. It's about finding the right fit, look, customer service and what you want to offer your clients. I see that almost all labs are offering albums these days. Which is not a bad idea, but most of those are offering very basic covers. Sorry for the ramble probably didn't help you too much at all, just my experience with the companies I use.

The "pink" is what happens to photographic paper when folded. The other labs that produce the "non-cut in the middle" spreads have the same thing. It's not a Graphi-specific problem.

Right, it's unavoidable at this time no matter who you use... unless you use album companies that cut that seam; it's down to 1/16 of a gap, which looks much cleaner than the non-cut style that bleeds, bunches and won't lay flat.
