I'm supposed to shoot an egagement session tomorrow, but it's raining here in LA, and the couple wants to go for it. Do you have any tips on protecting my camera from the rain? Put a plastic bag over it? Thanks for your help!

I picked up one of these before my trip to the Florida swamps to shoot Army Ranger training. It doesn't make anything water proof, but does a good job of keeping rain off the equipment. Just be prepared for thing to fog up on occasion. Sorry I don't know the name of the manufacturer, but it was around $100 at my local pro shop.

We used ziploc bags last year at OSPwest. It worked!

I've been waiting for this post. I have some rain gear on my B&H wish list and have been wondering about recommendations.

To keep the rain off I use clear plastic from home depot, you can get 2 lifetime supplies for about $30, I'd suggest a medium thickness, like 1.5 mil. and attach it with Gorilla Tape also available at home depot. It's like duct tape, only black and (the important part) it won't leave any sticky residue on your stuff. Not Sumo Tape, it leaves a residue, gotta be Gorilla tape. Gaffer tape falls off when it gets wet, so use it only in a pinch.

Or just buy all pro bodies and lenses with seals built in... wink.gif

Hope that helps,

I have one of these and it works. Not great if you need a flash on top of your camera, though. I think it's made by Kata.

2nd the "Pelican Bag" if you don't need flash...

Thanks for the tips smile.gif I'll check out the Pelican Bag at Samys tomorrow!

I think that's the same one I've had on my B&H wish list here.

I use the 11x14 or larger plastic bags that come with my WHCC orders. I think I have about 10 of them folded up in my camera bag.

Or try these Aqua Tech covers.

I don't own one, but I would buy this or the Kata cover if I had to. Plastic bags can work in a pinch, but for sustained shooting in inclement weather, a custom cover is critical.

I LOVE those bags. I use them for all sorts of things! If I could order just the bags from whcc I would.
