Well my first battery post wasn't too helpful. Apparently the initial Yahoo story didn't have all facts straight. It DOES cover rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. This does affect most of your camera batteries. Basically any battery IN the device (camera battery installed in a camera) can be in checked luggage. Loose batteries CANNOT be checked. Most loose batteries may only be carried on. They cannot contain more than 8 grams of lithium. For example, the Nikon EN-EL4a has approx 2 grams of lithium. I think they are after the larger laptop batteries. Although, you get to break the 8 gram rule for up to 2 batteries.
So clear, but what else would you expect from the FAA.
