Pre-CES 2008: Ridata has announced a new line of CompactFlash cards designed to minimize the risk of data loss by leveraging technology usually found in magnetic hard drives and RAM memory. SMART or 'Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology' provides a standard method for checking the health of mass-storage devices whilst Error Correction Code (ECC) verifies the datastream to catch and correct any errors. The cards will be available in two product lines - Supreme 150x with capacities of 4 and 8GB and Lightning (speed unspecified) up to 16GB.
